Amit Weisberger

Amit Weisberger is an Israeli violinist, dancer, actor and singer specialized in traditional Jewish music from Eastern Europe. He lives in France and is one of the leading artists of the French klezmer scene. He performs with several klezmer ensembles, including The Beigalé Orkestra, Yiddishe Fantazyé Trio, The Belf Project (Old European klezmer), Tarafikants (Balkan music), Kabarétalè (Jewish cabaret repertoire) and Tish (Hasidic table songs).

Amit plays and teaches by ear. He learned klezmer mostly by listening to audio archives and imitating them. Through this process, he gradually developed his own style and sound: rustic, expressive and rich in nuances. As a gifted teacher he has given several workshops in France, Manchester, Edinburgh, Prague, Mikulov as well as at Klazkanada (Canada), the Yiddisch Summer Weimar and Fiddlers on the Move, where he was already a teacher from the very first edition.
