Limberger Family

In this trio, Tcha Limberger explores a repertoire that could well have been played by his grandfather, the legendary Piotto Limberger. The music weaves together Manouche songs, Manouche-style interpretations of Russian, Hungarian, and Romanian melodies, with touches of Django Reinhardt and early American jazz. Tcha’s first musical steps were taken alongside his father Vivi Limberger, initially in a family ensemble that later evolved to include bassist Vilmos Csikós, a close Hungarian collaborator.

Vivi Limberger grew up in a Manouche family, travelling through Flanders and making music from an early age. He gained international recognition as rhythm guitarist with the Waso Jazz Quartet, where his distinctive playing helped shape the band’s much-loved sound across Europe. His deeply personal interpretations of Manouche songs later led to the formation of Romani, a project with Koen Decauter that toured for over a decade with Tcha on violin. Now based in Bruges, Vivi still appears on stage from time to time, bringing his unique voice and musical heritage to life.

Tcha Limberger is a renowned multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator, celebrated for his exceptional versatility and emotional depth. Drawing strongly on his Romani heritage, he has become a leading figure in both traditional and contemporary music, with international collaborations and critical acclaim, including a Songlines nomination for Fekete éjszaka with the Budapest Gypsy Orchestra. Active across jazz, world, and classical music, he continues to inspire audiences through projects such as Les Violons de Bruxelles and The Viper Club.

Especially for Fiddlers on the Move, Tcha reunites with his father Vivi for this rare and intimate trio performance, a unique opportunity to experience their shared musical lineage live on stage.
