Barbora Botošová

Barbora Botošová is one of the few Slovak leading violin player women, music arranger, composer and pedagogue who has been working on the music scene for over ten years. In 2008, she founded her own group called Bohémiens, which she led at the age of 22. She received her academic education at the Academy of Performing Arts in the field of violin playing in the class of Professor Petr Michalica – an important Slovak violin virtuoso. At the Academy of Performing Arts she graduated from a family of musicians – father Eugen Botoš, founder of the Violin Orchestra Bratislava, brother Eugen Botoš jr., founder of the band Finally and her grandfather was legendary Ján Berky Mrenica st., who influenced her most in her life.

Diversity, emotions and feelings, musical fusions, fantasies, combining different national and folk elements, rhythms and colors – all this and much more makes her music extraordinary. From 2010 to the present she is a lecturer and artistic director in the Divé maky organization, which is dedicated to talented children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2019 she released her debut album in the style of world music & ethno-jazz called Barbora Botošová & Friends – Colors of my Soul.
