Hedin & Meidell
Hedin & Meidell are acclaimed for their personal take on early Swedish traditions, creating rich soundscapes with their blend of nyckelharpa and baroque violin. Their music merges folk and baroque influences, weaving together the raw energy of gut strings and dance rhythms with the elegance and textures of early music. It draws on Ida’s deep roots in diverse fiddle traditions and on Johan’s distinctive approach to accompanying and pushing the limits of his instrument.
Fully embracing the duo format, Johan Hedin & Ida Meidell craft intricate arrangements that explore a wide range of colours and dynamics. Their work has established them as key figures in the contemporary Swedish folk scene. Since debuting at the 2019 Korrö Festival, they have toured widely and released two acclaimed albums: Klockarens musikaliska värld (2023) and Prowinciale (2024).
